Centre historique de Tallin

The origins of Tallinn date back to the thirteenth century, when a castle was built by the crusaders of the Teutonic Order and the city was called Reval. The city was later developed into a major center of the Hanseatic League, through its commercial port of Muuga, and its wealth is demonstrated by the opulence of the public buildings, including churches, and architecture domestic merchant houses, remarkably well preserved despite the ravages of fire and war over the centuries.
If you want to make a stopover in the Middle Ages, the historic center of Tallinn is the perfect place. This ancient fortified citadel was built in the twelfth century by the tribe of Estes. In the early thirteenth century, it passed into the hands of the Knights of the Teutonic Order and became a prosperous city. Can still be seen today in many public and religious buildings and beautiful homes of wealthy merchants of the time, the most impressive is certainly the home of the Great Guild, Gothic, dating from 1410.
Tallinn is a medieval city in remarkably good condition with the typical structure of the cities of the time. One of the most striking buildings is of course the castle with its colossal tower of thirty-five meters high called "Grand Herman." The walls are also impressive as their size or their condition.
The buildings of the old town are not all the same age, the City Hall, for example, was built in the fourteenth century and now houses a museum, while the beautiful Orthodox Cathedral St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral from 1894 at the time of the Tsars.
Tallinn is a true open-air museum with many medieval buildings and typical houses with pretty vaulted rooms where today held many events and festivals.
